Local school teachers visit the Kuranakh Mine

Polyus arranged an excursion to Kuranakh for teachers of school No.4 at Nizhny Kuranakh.

Polyus has contributed extensively towards the Mining Class, a professionally oriented project which has been rolled out at this school. However, not all of the teachers had visited gold mining operations.

Elementary school teachers as well other school specialists were involved in the excursion, which was arranged to encourage an interest in mining among teaching staff.

Teachers spent several hours at the main facilities of the mine and bridged gaps in their knowledge on Polyus activities and on the gold mining industry in general.

Sergey Kondratov, Chief Engineer of Kuranakh Mine, provided teachers with an overview of the mine’s operations. Teachers also had the opportunity to watch mills, compressors and thickeners operating, and were shown how the Kuranakh Mine is being upgraded.

Dmitry Gordok, Chief Engineer, demonstrated new advanced equipment, which has been recently put into operation.
