President of Polyus Gold Mining Company Evgueni Ivanov spoke at MINEX 2005 mining and exploration forum taking place in Moscow on 6-7 October. His presentation focused on the progress made by the company in implementation of its strategy.
In his speech Mr. Ivanov announced Polyus’ plans relating to development of recently acquired assets in Sakha Republic (Yakutia). He said that preliminary estimation of investments required to develop the Yakut assets were made, and they would exceed $500mln. Investment plans for the three deposits – Kuranakh, Nezhdaninskoye and Kyuchus – will be developed soon. Those plans include modernization of production facilities at Kuranakh, preparation of feasibility study for development of Nezhdaninskoye deposit and further exploration of Kyuchus.

MINEX 2005 forum was launched this year by SRK Consulting (UK) supported by the Federal mining agency of Russia. MINEX aims to provide an international platform to address various financial and technical issues of the mining industry in Russia and CIS. The forum is targeting exploration and production companies as well as potential investors. The forum’s participants include world’s leading mining companies such as BHP Billiton, AngloGold Ashanti, Barrick Gold, Kinross Gold, Placer Dome, and representatives of international financial community, such as Citigroup, BMO Nesbitt Burns, Vneshtorgbank, Brunswick UBS, London Stock Exchange, Standard Bank, UFG and others.
